Spiritual Matters (Part 1 – Our Planet)

1 Sep

Talking about God is pretty tough no matter what religion you have been indoctrinated with. There are many of us (human beings) who would rather talk about the latest fashion or the juiciest gossip than to talk about God and understandably so…

I’m sure you’ve ran across those who claim to be living by the word of God yet every time you look around they are doing something they know (with every fiber of their being) is wrong. These hypocrites. Take, for example (and this is to the extreme), the priest,  pastor, imam or Sunday school teacher that molest or kill children. We get disgusted to hear of such horrible stories yet consciously or unconsciously we commit similar acts of exploitation and rape.  How hypocritical of us to be so judgmental of others yet we haven’t even begun to remove the plank from our own eye. We’ve all seemed to adopt this “I want” attitude despite the damage it may cause to something or someone else.

The natural resources that was once so abundant are being depleted.  We are constantly looking for additional resources so that we can continue this addiction we have for material things.  When does it slow down?  The lifestyle we have come to enjoy can not be maintained unless we continue to commit the same awful acts so it’s going to take some serious soul searching to change things. What awful acts have we tolerated and still tolerate (directly or indirectly).

  • Slavery
  • Genocide (i.e. killing off the native people of North America)
  • Rape
  • Torture/Killing
  • Greed
  • Child labor
  • Cheap labor
  • War
  • Murder

Yet the Bible/Koran/Torrah teaches us not to do these things. I find it a bit odd that religion (a man made attempt for us to live and act a certain way) hasn’t taught us much of anything. We continue to purchase clothes made by companies that promote child labor.  We continue to try to find the cheapest contractor to beautify our homes/lawns knowing that 9 times of 10 they are practicing unethical and illegal labor laws ( i.e paying illegal immigrants hardly nothing).  Instead of us using our resources to promote companies that are attempting to treat our planet with the respect she deserve we continue to support bad behavior.  When does it stop? When are you going to say enough is enough??

OUR PLANET:  I know….I know.  It’s easier to turn a blind eye. You don’t want to be ridiculed for being a radical. Right? It’s easier to sit back and watch someone try to solve problems that are a constant threat to our life (cancer for example). When will we begin respecting our planet? You may be asking yourself why I would be talking about our planet under the category of “spiritual matters”. Well because IT IS A SPIRITUAL MATTER.

Prior to our human race following a doctrine, we worshiped and respected this planet. We used herbs provided by nature to relieve us of health related issues.  We listened to the rustling of the trees when the wind blew while listening to the birds sing. We spent most of our time outdoors enjoying the fresh, unpolluted air while watching our children play and listening to the crickets chirp.  We grew and raised our own food.  The abundance of resources were available for all to enjoy.

Now, we spend most of our time indoors.  If we’re not busy working our ass off so that we can buy more things, we are sleep from exhaustion. We practice the same routine day in and day out…even on the weekends. I guess we should be thankful for those 14-28  days (out of 365 days in a year) we are granted for vacation time.

Do we even have the time or energy to consider how we could help our planet?

Instead of me pointing fingers I am going to start with me.  I’ll start by doing research on the companies I purchase product from.  If I find any unethical behavior I will report my findings and I will begin searching for alternatives.  I can not control what you do but I can certainly control my behavior. Hopefully others will find it just as important as I do in saving our planet from disaster. Hopefully, we all will do what is pleasing unto our Creator, our Protector our God/Goddess or whatever you choose to call this Spiritual Energy (I call this Spiritual Energy… God).

Even if you feel that this is not a spiritual matter I ask you join me in saving our planet.

I’m going to stop here because my intention was not to write a book but as I grow and learn more about these issues, I will definitely be blogging.
